THE IDEA:
FlashLoan! Make a difference in the world right now. WHY: A group of educators came together at an EdCamp conference on July 16, 2012 and were challenged to make a measurable difference in the world in only 60 minutes. We came up with a concept of a #FlashLoan. HOW: A #FlashLoan takes advantage of mass micro-lending in a short period of time, shared through social media. We, along with other lenders around the world, will take advantage of Kiva's free $25 loan to new users (FlashLoan $25 NOW! link above) to lend to 2000 entrepreneurs by Friday. We are also asking lenders to match the free gift by donating an additional $25 or more from their own pocket. WHAT: We want to put as many entrepreneurs “across the finish line” by Friday, July 20 at 3 PM EDT. Tweet your lending using the hashtag #flashloan. By leveraging the 2000 free loans, we expect to loan out $50,000 by Friday. If each lender also lends an additional $25 of their own money, we will raise at least $100,000 by Friday, July 20th. |
